Welsh volunteers share skills with colleagues from Hong Kong

27th June 2017

Around 100 volunteers from Hong Kong St John Ambulance visited the Principality Stadium today (27th June) to learn how St John Cymru Wales provides first aid cover at major events.

As the nation’s leading first aid charity, St John Cymru Wales is the trusted provider of medical cover for sporting events and concerts at the 74-thousand seater venue, most recently for the UEFA Champions League Final.

The visitors from Hong Kong St John Ambulance were given an insight into the scale of the work carried out by St John Cymru Wales including a tour of the main first aid points, situated in key locations of the stadium.

They were also given a guided demonstration of the range of vehicles and first responder bikes that St John Cymru Wales uses to deliver emergency first aid wherever it is needed.

Chief Executive for St John Cymru Wales, Keith Dunn OBE, said:

"St John Cymru Wales is part of one St John family around the world and this is a great opportunity to welcome our colleagues from Hong Kong to Wales, to share our ideas and knowledge.

"Our volunteers are highly trained and experienced in delivering medical cover at large events and to demonstrate this on an international stage is recognition of that."
